2021 was the year full of Gimmicks, all the smartphone industry brands started marketing based on Futuristic Gimmicks.

What is Gimmick?

Gimmicks are basically a Tag Line that is combined with a smartphone launch that "Our smartphone has the Monster BIg Battery, Quad Camera, Penta Camera" etc etc. All these are basically a Gimmick.

In 2021 almost 7-8 are the Top best Gimmicks just for the marketing purpose and make all consumers attracted to it. Let's have a look at it.

1. Environment-Friendly Packaging

This is on Trending after the Covid-19 pandemic, Apple company started this trend of removing charging adapters with phone's box and as usually get carried forward to android smartphone brands. and they are saving the plastic waste and packaging material (According to Smartphone Brands)

But basically, they are selling it separately for the needy ones which increases more packing wastes and they get more profits by not including it within the phone's Box.

2. Smartphones Base varient

In all Smartphone launches they highlight " Price starts from 24999 or 19999" just to make people think its budget-friendly and value for money and consumer starts to have a wish to buy that phone but when you go to offline shops or online sites they are usually out stocks and consumer ends up buying the higher variant.

3. Smartphone Camera

This is the top best Gimmick of 2021, Smartphone brands launch with the tagline "108MP quad-Camera setup, 64MP quad-camera setup" and setup will be 108+8+2+2 or 64+8+2+2 MP. Do you think all these 2MP are worth any use? All these are just for showcase purposes. 

4. Clean UI

Most smartphone brand tries to make their software clean and fully bloatware-free but in greed of making profits, they end us adding some bloatware which keeps on sending SMS and notifications of advertisements.

5. Latest Software

When a new Android software version is released, all smartphone brands start the race to make their smartphone first to launch with that android version or to show that they provide more fast and secure android updates and security patches.

But all those updates are basically the Alpha or the beta 1, beta 2 versions which are full of bugs, and even after getting a stable update, it will have some bugs.

6. Virtual RAM

This was some of the innovative steps taken in the smartphone industry but it end up in a Gimmick only. Vartual RAM is basically a feature witch adds up some RAM by taking the internal storage but its totally a gimmick. The smartphone will give the performance of inbuilt RAM storage only.

7. 5G Smartphone

Now almost all chipsets are coming with 5G supports. Its actually not a gimmick but basically in India 5G has not yet come through and people just in run of 5G by compromising all other features. All smartphone brands are launching 5G smartphone in as low as price ,but we can't even say that it may support our 5G bands or not. Neglecting all important features just for 5G is a follishness.

8. India's First.

when top chipset making companies like Snapdragon and Mediatek indroduces a new chipset all Smartphone brands starts advertising as the "India's first smartphone with this processor" and kept on marketing by all this gimmicks.
